Showering houseplants, with lukewarm water, contributes to the health and appearance of houseplants.
The main advantages are:
- Removal of dust, which allows the plant to "breathe" and photosynthesize better
- Removal of pests, especially spider mites and scales
- Removal of accumulated salts in the soil, mostly fertilizer residues
Frequency:
- In summer - every 2 months
- In winter - every month, as the rooms are heated in winter and the humidity in the rooms is reduced
Procedure: The plants should be placed under a shower or in a bathtub, and the leaves should be washed on all sides with a light stream of lukewarm water. In order to wash the soil from excess salt, you need to pour twice as much water into the container as its volume. The best time for this is when it is sunny in the apartment, so that the soil dries out faster. Also leave the plants a couple of hours in the tub, to let the soil to dry out as best possible.
