Cherry laurel - lat. Prunus laurocerasus

The most famous and most adaptable evergreen shrub can be seen in many parks and gardens.

Its natural habitat is Southeastern Europe and Northwest Asia.

This shrub grows well in sunny positions as also in half shade. It is tolerant to salt and air pollution, which makes it ideal for planting in urban areas and beside roads. It comes in different sizes and different leaf shapes. The plant prefers to be watered less frequently but when watered it should receive a substantial amount of water. It can be pruned in spring and autumn.

Common diseases are Powdery mildew, leaf spot fungi and bacterial shothole.

Its leaves and fruits are poisonous to humans and animals.

A plant that is easy to maintain and adaptable must simply be loved.
